Craigslist search all cities script 15

Posted by Joel Jensen Wed, 16 Aug 2006 15:12:00 GMT

My scooter got stolen a while ago, and I am tired of looking at craigslist to find it. So I wrote this script to do it for me. I wrote a bot that looked at all the cities, and found the citynumber, took the results and plugged it in here. It looks at all the craigslist cities [cityname, citynumber] goes out to there, says its Internet explorer and does a search. The search results are an html file that has the name of the search as the title. Takes a few minutes to run, but can be automated.

Usage for me looking for my scooter is this => search_all_craigslist.py aprilia

MY GOD CHILDCARE IS EXPENSIVE.

We just put the little podling in daycare. A nice montessori with bright looking kids, the thing that sold me was a little girl about ours age that had on a t-shrit saying “im with the band”.

We looked at 5 daycare centers today. Marijo looked talked with the providers and I sat quietly and watched the children. Some of the children looked like the chimps I have seen in psych videos, less the chicken wire monkey. We passed on those. Some of the centers were so packed with kids I could only think of feedlots. Don’t parents shop around? Sheesh. Anyway it’s $995 a month, at that rate 1 year is more than I spent on my university education. I heard from Marijo’s brother that I can get it paid for pretax in some states. I need to look into that.

Amp

I’m a audio freak, and a cheapskate. An incompatible combination. I got around it for years by buying very high end headphones. My amp died a while back and I have been using amp from a friend he got it at goodwill, paid $5. I have been watching the papers on and off for a while looking for a good deal. On a whim I got a T-amp Super T amplifier. Don’t know what it sounds like. I heard about it on the radio, and read some reviews.

This guy was foaming at the mouth about it. review

I hope it will drive my old nice speakers. Hurry up UPS…

FIRE

Posted by Joel Jensen Sat, 05 Aug 2006 07:26:00 GMT

Its 2 AM, My Neighbors house just caught fire. About 15 Engines are on the street, 50 firemen, 4 ambulances, this little trailer that has a compressor to refill tanks. Its this 100 year old victorian on the corner. She likes to garden, the firemen brought her out unconscious, but OK. Her son came home as they took her out and freaked. I think everyone there will be OK but it was strange. It was the second time in 3 years that the place has caught fire, and in the same spot. This time I think the house is a total loss. It was the first time I saw all my neighbors standing in one spot, A big motley group of worried people. I can still hear the chainsaws chewing away.

Cool google maps integration

Posted by Joel Jensen Thu, 03 Aug 2006 20:34:00 GMT

I have just finished a really, really hard integration of google maps into a real estate site. Look up some listings, parse the result set into different pages and give the option of showing the ajaxy google maps of all the properties on the page. Click on the pushpins and see the properties and descriptions. The map changes page to page. The main hassle was the different browsers usage of javascript. in ie its window.body.onload in netscape its window.body.onload() and lots of little things like that.

My friend Charlie invited me to DefCon in Las Vegas today, I had 4 hours notice. Not quite enough. Maybe next year, I’m getting some cool T-shirts though.

Wireless mouse

I got a new Apple bluetooth wireless mouse, I like the feel and the wireless. However the right click only works about 80% of the time. I’m not sure if the mouse learns or I do ( my college life disproves the latter ) but the mouse is seeming to work better. Its a laser mouse that uses an IR laser. The tracking is alot better than the red dot laser mice. Mouse
